Kevin V Wallace - Author

Kevin V. Wallace was born in Oxford, Ohio and raised largely in Petoskey, Michigan. His studies have included contemporary art, film, music, and world religion. In 1991 he joined del Mano Gallery, a leading gallery in the field of contemporary craft art located in West Los Angeles. For a decade he was Manager and Creative Director, immersing himself in the field of contemporary craft and wood art, and building relationships with leading artists, important collectors and museum directors. During this time he curated and catalogued a number of exhibitions at the gallery, some of which were presented at art expositions in New York and Chicago.

CURATOR & AUTHOR

In 2001, Wallace set out on his own, working as an independent curator and author. Since that time, he has guest curated exhibitions for a number of museums and art centers, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Long Beach Museum of Art, the St. George Art Museum and the Craft & Folk Art Museum, Los Angeles. He has authored numerous books on contemporary art and craft, including River of Destiny: The Life and Work of Binh Pho, Moulthrop: A Legacy in Wood, Transforming Vision: The Wood Sculpture of William Hunter, Celebrating Nature: Craft Traditions / Contemporary Expressions and Every Exit is an Entry: The Life and Work of Liam O'Gallagher. He has co-authored other books, including New Masters of Woodturning: Expanding the Boundaries of Wood Art with Terry Martin and Contemporary Turned Wood: New Perspectives in a Rich Tradition and 500 Wood Bowls with Ray Leier and Jan Peters. Wallace is also a regularly contributor to numerous periodicals including Craft Arts International, American Woodturner and Woodturning Magazine.

Wallace is currently Director of the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts in Ojai, California, where he curates exhibitions of work in a wide-range of media, as well as producing concerts and theatrical productions.
